Emailing Presets Stopped Working

So disappointed that I can no longer email preset practices to students which was the main reason I bought the app and asked parents to buy the app. I’ve tried logging out, uninstalling the app, etc but nothing fixes it. The buttons to select “send the preset” or “cancel” do not respond when selected. I did email the developer but haven’t gotten a response.

More themes?

So, I am asking if you could add more themes. Maybe some stuff like other animal races? Such as owls, dolphins, huskies, bunnies, and some other stuff. Please respond because I feel it has been a long time since an update, but it is still a great app for children to learn how to note read.

Great BUT

This a great app that has made piano lessons more fun for my students. I especially love the option to play the instrument. SUGGESTION: Have an option with no timer or race, just answering the notes, as some kids don’t do well being timed.

Low instruments don’t work

Tried playing this game with bassoon students today. The note recognition didn’t work when they were playing the correct octave, but when I started playing an octave above it worked.

Space race

My students LOVE the space race. It’s very exciting for them and keeps them trying to learn notes so they can win!

No updates for years, can’t do what I want

I can’t use an external audio interface with this; it’s too buggy. I want my students to be able to silently practice their notes on guitar, and I can’t do that. No updates for 4 years means I doubt this or any future bugs will be fixed. This product may be near end-of-life. EDIT: website says last update was nov. 2017. Looks like two minor updates since then, the last being 2019.

Luke Bartolomeo does not respond!

I am a teacher. I've been using this app for several years after other teachers highly recommended it. The app itself is good for the most part, but I've had some issues that are not working for my studio. I started having issues with being unable to set a master device and clone my other devices. Although Luke followed up to my initial request, asking if I am logged in, when I answered his questions to explain this issue is not on my end as a user not being logged in, he never responded despite multiple emails. In good conscience, I can not recommend this to my students when the app developer is admittedly MIA. I will use other apps instead. I will update IF the developer ever fixes this and responds to my emails.

Exciting way to practice flashcards!

My students love this app! It’s so much more fun than the old flashcards. My own 3 kids fight over who gets to do it next and they love competing to see who gets the best score!

Glitches

Flashnote Derby is a great way for children to practice note reading. The pacing allows children to think before they answer and it records progress. However, the free teacher features are frustrating when you can’t access them. The system suddenly doesn’t seem to recognize my password and I can’t reset it myself . I’ve tried with several accounts and emailed the developer three times with no response or resolution.

Unnecessarily violent

You win the space race -“Ecliptic Encounter” by shooting missiles into the opposing ship until it explodes. Really?? This is a tool for little kids. Why can’t the ships just...race? I can’t let my kids use this.

Unusable

Hello: this is not accessible by my students. When I send it to them, there is a message that says “Safari will not support it.” Could you please help. I have a lot of students, Android and Apple, and no one can open it. Thanks!

Great Potential

I agree with another reviewer who pointed that the app “boos” when they miss a note. Saying “awww” with the ability to keep trying until you get it correct. Also, I find the website lacking severely in showing you how the app looks on the student end. Sending and creating a drill is not clear. You also can’t ask questions on the site. Keep trying, because I like it otherwise.

Happy to pay for more themes!!

My students LOVE this app! They ask me for it every lesson. And often ask when they will come out with more Themes. Please - I’d be happy to pay for more themes! Thank you for creating this app. Piano teachers dream come true!

Great!

I just discovered the informational videos and that I can tack student progress with this app! I can’t wait to try out all these features with my students.

The best in class!

Timely updates and great support. The only note reading game with style and polish! All my students love it!

I can only give the app one star because it won’t open

After the most recent update my version won’t update. I have an iPad Pro and have not received any customer support.

Fantastic

It helps with both note and keyboard recognition/speed. I have searched and searched for this one!!!! Fun and effective. Thrilled!

Fun note naming game!

Thank you for taking away the booing sounds! My students love this game!

Love it!

I use this a LOT with my piano students. I am delighted with the new option of playing the notes on the piano instead of tapping them on the screen. This is my favorite feature! Thanks for adding that. I have noticed sometimes it doesn't give an "x" if the wrong note is played. My student hit a Bb a couple of times instead of a B, and it allowed her to try again and get it right. I would prefer an "x" first time, but apart from that it's a wonderful upgrade. Keep up the good work!

Great app

I have a hard time memorizing notes. This app saved the day!

Some big developmental flaws

This app was recommended by my 8yo's piano teacher. I could be great, but he was quickly frustrated with it. The cheering when he gets a correct answer is good, but does there really have to be a loud "awwww!" or, even worse, "booooo!" for a wrong answer? Also, the letter choices are in a font that can be confusing for young children: namely the D can be easily confused with a lowercase A, flipped right to left (but that is lost on many children at this age). Simple block letters would be a more appropriate choice. Once we straightened out which letter was which and turned the sound off, it went better, but that was rather too late.

Awesome App

This app makes it so fun to learn.

Answer keyboard should customizable

It is frustrating for a student to name a note and have to pick a note on the keyboard that is on the wrong registration of the keyboard. The eye is not learning to think horizontally. This is true for all answer choices. Otherwise it is an ok app and children enjoy it. I have answer direct on the piano and I supply the answer to compensate for this error.

Good for drills

I bought this app to use with my piano students. Overall they like the app. It has cute graphics that appeal to children. My only complaint is that I would like for there to be a two octave span on my iPad. My kids found it confusing when F5 in the treble clef had to be played at F4 in the app when doing the treble line drill for instance. I could see them wanting to press a key an octave above the keyboard display (where the note actually resides). I don't use the keyboard since it is causing them confusion.

I love this app

I love this app it helps me learn notes and it seems like a game 🎶✌🏻💖

Great teaching tool

I teach piano and the kids love it. Best part is being able to set notes you want on quiz without restrictions.

Simple app that kids really like

I was really surprised how much my piano students like this app. It's really just flash cards with sound effects but they love playing it. Some of them liked it enough to ask their parents to buy it; at the very least I get no argument about practicing our letter names. Now maybe they'll write an app that works on steps and skips with the same game engine.

Great app!!

This app has really been helping my daughter learn to read notes. We use this along with her piano lessons. Plus I'm trying to learn some too along the way. It's the pre-made lessons that really work for us. We'd love to have more too!!

Easy to Use

Works as advertised. Easy to use.

Great way to learn notes.

I've known every good boy does fine since I was six, but this is the first time I've ever been able to immediately play a note just by looking at it. Very good app.

Great app

My son learned the treble clef in just 3 days!

Great App!

As a piano teacher and parent, this is a great application to help learn notes on the piano. My only recommendation would be to have two octaves for the notes that fall below or above the staff.

.

Excellent way to learn to read music.

Excellent

I'm 48 and just learning to read music. I've tried other flash card apps but this simple one packs in all the versatility and repetition needed to really memorize those notes.

AWESOME APP!

Wonderful app!! Helps me learn music.

It boos if you get it wrong

It's for kids and it boos you if you get too many wrong. I would not let my child play with that!

Fun

Kids love it. The Christmas reindeer are super cute.

Great.

I am very pleased. The difficulty is easily adjusted and you can easily focus on specific notes. My younger children really like it.

Almost good

I got this to help a child review notes. The first time, she got 8/10 right, and the game makes noises like she lost/did a bad job. Totally threw her off. A big disappointment.

Great!!!

This app is great!! It's a must buy for all piano students no matter what age!!

I like this app

This is the first app I bought. This is a great app. I would recommend it

Good app

I'm an adult learning to play the piano, this app has helped me learn the keys, it's way better than flash cards.

Educational AND fun

Very good app! The positives: As a teacher, I love that I can tailor the parameters to what a student knows and/or needs to work on. I have used it in a few lessons already and I've seen clear improvement after a few rounds. Having the ability to email the settings to the student is a feature I would never have imagined but have already used. The "derby" itself is fun and the graphics are pretty good. You can set it to letter names, piano keys, or both. The negatives: the booing has got to go. I would never "boo" a student for making a mistake, and although older students might find it funny, it's way too harsh for young kids. This would be a 5-star review if not for the booing! Suggestions: I would like to see the treble and bass clefs extended out by an octave. I could see adding an alto clef option at some point. Finally, why isn't there an option for the jockey to be a girl??

Great concept. Reward system could use improvement!

I was excited to find this app to help my 4 year old daughter read notes better. She plays the piano and is beginning to read notes, but isn't fluent yet, so I thought this app might help. (She reads on a 3rd grade level, so I think she is capable of learning how to read notes.) Most kid apps we have are encouraging and use positive reinforcement. If you miss a question, you are encouraged to try again, and when you get it right, there's some sort of positive reinforcement. However, in this app, if you answer incorrectly, you hear "boo" sounds and unless you get all questions right, you lose and a sad tune is played. It's not encouraging at all and makes her not want to try again. If this was fixed, it would be a great app. But not as is.

Great app!

Great way for kids to learn notes!

Increases note naming speed

My three kids all love it (ages 4, 7, 9), has improved their note identification speed.

Amazing App for teaching young ones!

I'm teaching my 5yr old twin kids how to read music and this has absolutely been the best app to engage them.

Immediate results!

After only a few days u saw an improvement in my sins piano playing. The intense reviewing with notes and key options made rehearsing his note recognition fun. Great app and lessons

Excellent

My piano student were exceedingly excited with the new Reindeer theme. This little app holds their attention and enthusiasm much better than regular "analog" flash cards. Would like some additional features, like personalized high scores for multiple users. This would add some motivation
